The problem with people with socialist leanings like Ocasio-Ortez is that they see a problem (very unequal wealth and income distribution) but have no real understanding of the cause or how their solutions (which amount to wealth redistribution) might impact behavior and the economy negatively overall.
Over and above that, what gives one group of people the moral right to confiscate the wealth of another group and then use it to impose their values, priorities, and will on the people they are taking the money from.
Ideally (and since I'm more of a realist than idealist this probably won't work on a large enough scale either), the solution is for the wealthy to make very large donations to foundations and charitable organization that help people. That way those in need get help, but in ways that reflect the values of the givers instead of the takers. The money would also have a better chance of being used efficiently. Even if I am making a charitable contribution I am going to want my money to be used effectively. So unlike government I am way more likely to follow up and look for tangible results or start contributing elsewhere.
