A quick calculation based on the DRF charts shows that Fonner Park handled $62,542 on Friday's opening six race card. At 20% across the board, that is $12,508 in on-track takeout.

The guaranteed Pick-5 minimum of $5,000 was taken down on opening day which drags down the wagering take to about $7,500.

Given the effort that Chris Kotulak and team put into the Fonner Park 2020 pandemic season where everyone noticed the "little track that could", the 2022 quarantine and 2023 start are just a nightmare business scenario.
