The timer starts 5 feet from the gate for the one mile distance on the main track at Gulfstream. Most PP's have the run up distances and rail positions if you get them on line. I use the DRF formulator.
For example at Del Mar the run up distance at one mile on the main track to the timer is 200 feet. It makes quite a difference if your trying to figure out the pace.
