Even if I think winning the triple crown trumps those other wins, American racing revolves around the Triple Crown, without the Triple Crown I am not sure racing even exists.

True, The only time most of the general public even think about racing is the Kentucky Derby or if there is a TC winner. That is not enough to grow or even sustain interest in the sport. One or 3 races a year won't do it The least racing can do is to give fair justice to the best horse or it will remain a 1 day or 5 week a year curiosity.
