Kind of what the dems want here!
Very wrong and a clear misunderstanding of how things work. Theresa May was NOT the choice of the PEOPLE. We do not elect Prime Ministers here. We elect local members of parliament in our own constituency. May was elected as an MP by her local constituency as are all the 650 MP's. Each political party elects their leader and that person becomes Prime Minister if that party forms the government. May took over as PM when Cameron resigned after getting us in this mess when her party elected her following his resignation. All that happened was May faced a no confidence vote from her own party and only they took part. The same happened when Blair resigned during the middle of Labour's term of government and Labour elected Brown as leader and so Brown became PM. Similar when Thatcher faced a vote of no confidence (that she would have lost) from her own party in the middle of a term of government and resigned and the Tories elected Major as leader and so he became PM. If a PM resigns or is ousted we don't have an election, the party in power continues just with a new leader who becomes PM.

Although I don't like May or the party she represents I do feel a bit sorry for her. She was left the impossible situation of sorting out this mess when the people who got us into it cut and run and are now stabbing her in the back. May never wanted us to leave the EU and was a remain supporter. The other thing I will give her credit for is she has been very dignified in the face of all this, no bleating to the press, no rants on twitter, no abuse of the people who voted against her. She won the vote and just got on with things. That said she has been very wounded by this with a third of her own MP's saying they don't have confidence in her.

Hard to know what will now happen. Doubtful she will get the deal with the EU through parliament. This could now mean the Labour party will bring a vote of no confidence in the government and try and take power and force a general election. The Conservatives are only just clinging to power, they don't have an overall majority and are only keeping power with the help of the DUP. The other options if she can't get the deal through is put it back in the hands of the people with another referendum or the disaster of leaving without a deal. We are due to leave in March and the clock is ticking. A right mess.
