Why not 1 1/8, or even 1 1/4 on the dirt? With the longer run to the clubhouse turn runners drawn outside would have a better chance. I like long route races on the dirt, and wish more of them were carded in this era of breeding short winded speed crazy sprinters. While they are at it, why not toss in a few at 1 3/16? After all, the Preakness is at this rare distance, so why not run a few for ouchy bottom level conditioned claimers?
