need a new bike
a while back i bought a 70's converted 1 speed bianchi at a yard sale for 100 and thought it was the bargain of the month. started commuting to work on it a little over two years ago. ever since, the thing has nickle and dimed me to the tune of about 600 more i've put into replace parts or get repairs. now the roads in oakland are the pits, but that's not why it's always breaking. hate to admit it, but i'm too heavy. it's a forty-something year old racing bike. if i weighed 165 this would be fine to commute on every day. at 225 it's always gonna have issues.
looking for a good commuter bike for heavy dudes and bad roads. not looking for the end all, just something with min 12 gears that can take the impost. any suggestions?
