The Meadowlands has a better chance because it's off route 3 and the turnpike a guy coming home fron work who doesn't have a bookie might consider it.

I would bet that once the SW is approved and operating William Hill would like nothing more than the phone bets to be a huge part of the action. Until it is up and runnng smoothly the old school betting style will be in affect, walk up to the track make a sports wager pay the piper get your ticket and enjoy the game! You bring up MP vs the Meadowlands, there really isn't any love at all between the current individuals running each venue, in fact Jeff Gural has to approve the sites for the new OTW's and they go through his real estate company, that is a big problem in itself. There is a letter that was sent to Mr Gural it is avaialble on the MP website under horseman, you can read how the two groups waste a lot of time bickering instead of expanding the product to new markets. I sent your passes out, enjoy the races. MP is still a great place to visit and its charm will never be diminished.
If they can take phone or online bets that's an entirely different story. Purses would go sky high and the MP takeover would be an impressive success for private enterprise. Even if they capture just the 10%-20% that doesn't know a bookmaker its a big number. This is 2014 this generation wants things done as quickly as possible. Wasting an hours drive is not an option for them if they can use their smartphone.

Just what they would take in from the super bowl would be at least eight figures. Also you would be surprised what type of games some wiseguys bet on. I'm being serious that over the last decade I didn't even hear of at least five or more colleges where there was a line. The negative is like I stated before sometimes seconds are important to them let alone minutes. I'll never forget what one wiseguy said after beating a bookie (long story) hitting the middle on the same game, same two teams, same bookie. "Your guys have to be smarter".

I know a poster here thinks William Hill is the smartest bookie on the planet, but I would take the guy I'm taking about in the above paragraph 365 out of 365 days a year.
