A panel of college coaches stated that in a cover 2 coverage, the corner is supposed to slow the receive enough to allow the safety more time to get into position. From what I saw the safety faked a bite on a shorter route, then dropped back, but could not get back quick enough. Even though the corner had safety help, why would he not stay with his receiver in press coverage? He didn't drop off to double a receiver running the out, instead he gave up inside leverage, let his guy blow by him, then followed him up the field five yards behind him.
