There is as usual more to this ruling than is being discussed. This move is purely to do with liability issues. The goal posts are being made a bit higher thus making the goal posts heavier besides being longer. A few years back a goal post came down in a college game and struck and killed a woman. So they are outlawing dunking thru the goalposts because it may fall and bonk someone on the head?
That goal post that "came down" in a college game was ripped down by the student body, no?
I am sure it didn't fall as a result of some WR dunking over it.
