Some if it is probably people being more willing to admit they are something other than heterosexual and the gender they were assigned by biology. That would be true regionally also because some states are more liberal than others. But I also think there's no question young people are influenced by teachers, peer pressure, TV, movies, what they think is cool, etc... IMO, this period is going to come back to haunt a LOT of parents that allowed their kids to transition prematurely with drugs and surgeries (not to mention the kids themselves that will have all sorts of health problems, that can't have children etc...) It's becoming like a cult of the mentally ill.
