Notes for the day:
Race 1 (419): 93 Happy Friendship (26) was allowed to get a perfect trip on the front end and as the night went along it became obvious that was where you wanted to be, it was one of the most obvious speed bias tracks I have ever seen in Hong Kong, which we don’t get all that many and especially on the turf courses. He let the bias carry him home and getting a 26 pound allowance to the runner-up didn’t hurt the matter either. Remarkable (41) made a nice move against the bias and did it going wide in the turn, would have gone on a watch list if not for him being a Class 5 runner. Hopefully Wong will be taken off Island Flyer (15) for his next out, all around a bad effort by the rider after encountering early trouble.

Race 2 (420): -91 Another race where the track carried the longshot winner Young Dreamer (37) home, was all out to get there after dueling on the lead with Idyllic Wind (33) who even managed to hold on for third place. Scarborough Fair (34) made a nice move but was too far back and fighting the bias was more than he could overcome, something spooked him soon after the wire and almost threw Leung off in the gallop out. At the 250 metre mark Great Toplight (26) drifted in and took out Show Mission (40), A Star Luster 37() and Fair Comment (26) totally out of the race what with Rawiller on Show Mission almost going down.

Race 3 (421): 96 See Me Now (56) wasn’t on the lead but did sit right behind the pace setter Wah May Baby (60) on the rail and Moreira was able to find room and stay on it to the wire, he out finished Great Joy (57) (key race runner) who closed against the bias. Association Fans (44) leaped out of the gate and surrendered at least a couple lengths to the field, and put in a good effort in the stretch considering the trouble at the break. Thank goodness for jocks carrying whips, Callan might have been in trouble if not, The Sylph (57) was trying to get out in both turns and he had to use it to keep him from continuing his outward motion.

Race 4 (422): 97 Gracydad (57) broke on the lead and let the conveyer belt do the rest, the win allowed his trainer Hall to get off a 146 winless streak, in the lane he had to out finish Moreira on the chalk Bingo (43), that’s looking more and more like a hanger, refusing to pass a leader in the stretch. Honest Horse (53) lived up to his namesake in this effort after being away for 11 months and closing well while fighting the track, he quickly galloped out past the winner soon after the finish line. Bad ride by the bugboy Mo on Sharp Hunter (58), breaking from the 10 hole he didn’t put much effort in getting over when entering the short turn and it forced him wide thru out the race.

Race 5 (423): -96 Very impressive win by Har Har Heart (59) after travelling wide in the turn for home, was much the best and drew away from this field with plenty left in the tank for his next try at Class 4, he did pick up 9 rating points which just allows him to stay in this class, barely. Both Charity Wings (48) and Yourthewonforme (45) were slow out of the starting gate, both efforts by them were enough to write a line thru this effort.

Race 6 (424): 101 By now the jocks should have been aware of how the track was playing, but I guess Nash Rawiller wasn’t, on E-Super (85) his last win was on the lead with Nash but for some reason he decided to sit mid-pack and that was that for that race. Moment Of Power (75) grabbed the lead immediately out of the gate and the rest followed him to the winners’ circle, drawing off with the greatest of ease in 1,000 metre races at the city track. Mythical Emperor (79) had a difficult run, stumbling slightly while breaking from the 12 gate forcing him out of his usual running style on the lead, then the bugboy Poon couldn’t find a way over and went 4 wide in the turn and was pushed even wider by Moreira on Money Boy (74) entering the stretch. General Iron (72) was also slow away at the break.

Race 7 (425): 99 Entering the turn Whyte on Prince Harmony (71) came down onto the winner Jolly Convergence (75) and pushed him down towards the rail checking Lean Ambassador (74) who then went into Waldorf (78) who then pushed High Five () into the middle of the track. After it was all was said and done, Whyte got a week vacation for it. Sam’s Love (61) made a nice close in the stretch against the bias, Jolly Convergence stayed as close to the rail as possible and ran down the tiring dueler Cheerfuljet (68).

Race 8 (426): 100 When Berry pushed Happy Spirit (77) to the lead in the first turn after going three wide and engaged Right Call (60) into a duel that neither really would have wanted, it made the race fall apart in the stretch, and even a strong bias can’t carry horses home that can’t finish. Literature (83) saved ground and was the recipient of the battle on the front end and outran the light weight longshot Our Hero (63) home who had a slightly tougher trip. Generous Heart (67) leaped out of the gate then went three in the turn, had nothing left by the time they reached the straight.

Horses to watch for next out list:
Race 5 (423) #4 Har Har Heart (59): One of the few that was able to win while not running on the front end, was three wide in the turn for home and within a few steps took control of the lead and ran away from the favourite and the rest with plenty of reserve in the tank, luckily he only picked up 9 points so that will allow him to stay in Class 4 next out, the high weight shouldn’t be a problem for him.
