Which is why the literal plan is so whacked. If you are going to let the "good ones" back in, find out who they are and don't deport them in the first place. And the fall back by the more knowledgeable supporters is that this is just Trump's first offer in a negotiation (a suggestion!), and he knows he isn't going to get this, and he will settle for something less that he will be happy with.

I think he was purposely using the word deport because he knew most people would "assume" it meant physical deportation and that would be popular among some people, but he never really meant or intended physical deportation.
He's smart enough to know it would cost and waste a lot of money to physically deport them only to let them right back in, but he was throwing red meat at those that want exactly that.
