I can tell you from experience that if you see a first-time starter in a Quarter Horse race in Arizona that is older than 2 or 3 you should consider betting with both fists.

I remember numerous times seeing a first-time starter entered into small stakes races in Arizona and the horse running away from the field. They usually did at really, really low odds as well. This was all due to the fact that the Equibase charts don't exactly show match race performances.
