I agree with you that Tapwrit extended his energy use around the half-mile point of the 2017 Ky Derby, but he wasn’t as efficient in energy usage as either Always Dreaming or Classic Empire; both of those horses averaged over 8k joules per quarter which indicates that they did the most work during the race since work and energy are synonymous to each other.
