It’s always interesting to see a top animal when their taken out of their best game. I.e. Seattle Slew in the Derby (as was mentioned in another thread.) when he got off so badly and then blasted off like Jim Taylor on a Packer sweep it was AWESOME. (No…I’m not comparing Pass to Slew btw)

Is War Pass…one of the “ones”? Come to Tampa everyone and see if the champ will go to the Wood with his growing reputation in tact or…not.
Dan,

I might take you up on that. No doubt, War Pass is a 1 in 1000 horse. On that, the distances of the triple crown should present short hurdles to him. The one negative on the Tampa/Wood route is that War Pass may not be seriously challenged until May.

The one problem for the front runner at 2 turns, is that the front runner has no real measure for how much speed is too much, as the distance increases.
Granted, if the ability gap is wide enough, this makes little difference.

It will be interesting to see if any real competition also chooses the Tampa/Wood route. This would be a race that would show whether Pyro's last stretch run was indicative of mature improvement. Will he be there?
