Not on topic but here's some hilarious trainer quotes in the aftermath of the 1987 Marlboro Cup regarding the timing of the Breeders' Cup:

Trainers on the Belmont backstretch were grumbling about the late date for this year's Breeders' Cup. Other horsemen agreed. "It's an absolute joke," said McGaughey. "If it was up to me, I wouldn't want to participate." That really is incredible.
