One thing I will add is that years ago the major contenders in the Met were often high level Grade 1 and multiple Grade 1 winning older horses. It was often an elite Grade 1 event. The quality of the race these days is more along the lines of an average Grade 1 where most of the horses are trying to break through to get a Grade 1 win. So it should be easier for a very good 3yo to fit in now than it was in the past (especially with the break in weights).
