Vulnerable favourites on the card:
Race 4 Super Missile (4-5): Encountered enough trouble while being blocked in the stretch for most inexperienced runners to throw in the towel but he closed well when the room finally became available, his final time wasn’t all that quick which may be just a result of the trip but did look tired after the line, will need a weak field next time for me to play him again. (He did draw a weak field for today, but I am still going to try and beat him as a large betting favourite.)

Horses coming out of key races (races where multiple winners have come back next time out and won):
Race 255 (Winners: 7th & 8th, second: 2nd)
Race 9 Winston’s Lad (17-1)

Race 312 (Winners: 1st & 7th, second: 8th)
Race 4 Speedy Wally (66-1)
Race 6 Indigenous Star (13-1)
Race 6 Starlit Knight (42-1)

In the event of rain these horses have shown an appreciation for soft footing. (Good to Yielding or Yielding):
Race 2 Regency Darling (19-1)
Race 5 Ten Flames (32-1)

Trainer/Jockey/Horses winning combos:
Race 4 Super Missile (4-5)
Race 7 Verbinsky (28-1)

Horses for courses:
Race 7 New Asia Sunrise (7-1)
Race 9 Ivictory (even)

Distance specialists:
Race 3 Horse Of Fortune (6-1)
Race 3 Dinozzo (9-2)

Class specialists:
Race 10 Star Majestic (12-1)

Last race watch list horses:
Race 7 Racing Supernova (8-1): Was dropping down from a fast Class 1 to this Class 2 event, but was unfortunate to draw a Pingwu Spark (109) who is on his way to bigger and better races than this. Took his usual running position in the rear of the field, in a slowly run early pace, Rawiller was hoping to find a gap on the rail but was there was nothing there for him. He waited and waited and waited but nothing ever materialized for him, finally at the 100 metre mark he had to check up when one of the tiring runners in front of him came back to him, he never asked him to run but the most interesting thing was even though he finished 4 ¾ lengths back he galloped out past the field after the race.

Race 7 Good Standing (8-1): In his first try in Hong Kong after winning three races in his homeland of Australia, picked up the services of Mr. Purton but was unlucky in drawing the big (literally 1330 lbs.) Pingwu Spark (103). Was bounced a couple times down the backside by the winner, Purton was able to have the chalk boxed in entering the stretch, looked like he was a winner when Pingwu Spark ran into his difficulties, was able to get a length and a half lead at the 150 metre mark but ran out of gas late after being away from the races since last May, should improve off that effort. (Is coming off the Vet’s list with a lame left hind foot)

Race 8 Turin Redstar (5-2): In his second start in Hong Kong after an uneventful first try while drawing the 12 hole on a ‘C+3’ track for Lor, picked up Zach for the ride and the rail at the draw. Broke well and settled mid-pack on the backside, moved off the rail slightly entering the stretch after chasing a slow early pace set by the second place finisher Bullish Smart (74), became rank while looking for room at the 350 metre mark, was blocked until there was only 70 metres to go and exploded to the line without any encouragement from Purton.

Race 8 C P Power (5-1): Broke at least a couple lengths behind the field at the start, on the positive side though it allowed him to settle in on the rail and save ground in the turn, BUT it would have ramifications in the end. Looked full of run in the turn but was caught all up in it with nowhere to go in the stretch, did show some run at the end while being passed on the far outside by the deep closer Diamond Dragon (68) who payed $ 70.60 to win.

Past watch list runners:
Race 6 Noble Steed (5-2)

Key Play:
Race 3 Gold Mount (7-5)

Longshots:
Race 5 Grand Chancellor (9-1)
Race 10 Healthy Jouful (9-1)
