Something very strange we noticed was that all the 18 wheelers were driving much slower than usual. Then I realized that they are probably driving slower to save fuel since it has doubled in the last year or so.

Interesting, maybe Mr Horseplayer can comment on that. Just from what I have heard weight hauled and speed don't effect a diesel at the same rate as a vehicle on gasoline. Also I would think conserving fuel vs time would depend on how you are getting paid. It would be interesting to know the different types of payment these days and what is the most common.
