No deal between Suffolk, horsemen
Talks between the owners of Suffolk Downs the organization of horse owners and trainers over a deal that would allow thoroughbred racing to continue at the storied East Boston track have broken down. The breakdown, revealed Thursday by the lawyer of the horse owners and trainers after months of negotiations with the track owners, probably means there will be no live racing in 2015.
At a Gaming Commission meeting on Thursday, Frank Frisoli, the lawyer for the horse owners and trainers, said the negotiations came to an abrupt end recently when Suffolk Downs management made a move by asking the Legislature to allow it to simulcast horse racing there without conducting live racing.
