Patriotic symbol
Fireworks are the closest thing we get to "the bombs bursting in air".
I believe that this is a 4th of July tradition we should hold on to.
They are a great spectacle.
We are very proud of the display put on locally here
at the lake both on the 4th of July, and on Labor Day weekend.
Our local economy depends on tourism, and the fireworks are popular.
When you have seen them dozens of times, though,
the novelty tends to wear off. Great experience for kids,
and I can recall really enjoying them as a youngster.
The displays are conducted by professionals.
They should know not to operate in dangerous areas and conditions.
Here, if the winds get too high, they will cancel.
Luckily, that's a rare occurrence.
Professional fireworks displays are, on the whole, pretty safe.
The danger lies in individuals setting them off when and where
they should not. That's where the tragedies occur, and strict
policing is required to control illegal usage and distribution.

Want to know what's wrong with this country?
Here it is, in a nutshell: Millions of people are
pinning their hopes on a man who has every
chance of returning to the WH, assuming that
he can manage to stay out of prison. Think about it.
