Most Americans don’t know what the Fed is or what it does...much less how it was created and why...but you are right, it is an “independent” ...”institution”...AND a vastly important “branch” of our Government with virtually no oversight and basically secret operations...Americans are unaware that the Federal Reserve is neither Federal nor a Reserve...that it is an independent cartel actually owned and run by private interests...
