I was involved in the race. So maybe I’m biased. I thought it was a very close call either way. The #3 coming in was a clear part of the problem, but Cancel went right handed and imo his horse came in on its own at that point. The entire stretch run chain of events wasn’t Cancel’s fault, but I think the right hand whip was the deciding factor for the stewards.
