Diego Herrera, a 17 year old apprentice, did a nice job on
For Love Not Money in the 4th at Santa Anita on 1/7. The horse got a bad break and was left at the back. Herrera did not panic, moved the horse back up into contention, and then made a nice darting move to the inside around the 1/4 pole.
He couldn't catch the winner, who won off, but he salvaged second place and cashed a check for the owners with that ride. He might be a jockey to watch.
