People are tired of emotional arguments, like your above argument. A nation is defined by borders and its citizens, without borders there is no nation. Calling for border enforcement is reasonable, and that is why it does not appeal to people who thrive on emotional arguments and emotions to determine truth.
Emotions are a hindrance to truth.
