USPS employees get paid time and a half for anything over eight hours in a day or forty hours in a week. They get double time for anything over 12 hours a day and 60 hours a week. I don’t know what the rules are for contract employees and I am not familiar with who is a rural route driver.
Is that a carrier who delivers mail to homes on a rural route. Or is that someone who drives a semi and delivers mail to post offices from Sectional Centers and vice versa. Those were almost always contractors.
