As for the NFL, the biggest problem isn't the anthem nonsense. It's all the rule changes which are turning the game into something that isn't football.

I used to be a 49er fan and belonged to a website for fans of the team. I dumped them when I moved East and became a Redskin fan. The extreme liberalism of the fan base on the website and huge support for Kap was a big reason I moved on. I predicted his downfall long before most people did and it made me hugely unpopular. He stared down receivers and was a one read wonder. You would not believe how many fans there compared his numbers to Hall of Famers decades prior. Even when the rule changes that facilitated huge numbers for quarterbacks were explained they would not listen. I would say a good 25% of the fan base in there thought old school QBs like Bart Starr and Sonny Jurgenson put up the numbers they did because they flat out weren't very good and would not even make a modern roster as a 3rd stringer. They somehow believed quarterbacks have mentally and physically evolved tremendously in the last 50 years.
