That is what some UK news reports said. If outside temp is sunny and 120F that asphalt paving is probably 140F+. Which if it was recently applied or sealed it could get a little sticky, in 120F+ heat. If you are going to damage asphalt paving from heat, you would need something like a decent size fuel fire. Hot mix asphalt paving is laid at 275F and then compacted with a 20+ ton steam roller.
Another thing that the climate alarmist never mention when they site minor increasing temps and flooding in cities as evidence of man made climate change, is a lot of it is because of the creation of an asphalt jungle. Due to replacing natural soil and foliage with cement and asphalt pavement, you lose areas that soak in or take away water, and do not magnify and retain heat.
