Also, having lots of cookies will slow your load time as well.
Finally, I'd do a malware sweep. If you're loaded with malware, it could really tax your system.

That's about what it takes on mine. I try to type the address to the .pdf that I want, in order to bypass the web page.
It's not bad if I'm casually browsing a site, but if I am muti-tasking, those seconds start to add up.
What do you use to sweep malware?
