Once again, a little bit of research turns up the truth of the matter. Which is that some company wanted to open an underground copper mine in Minnesota’s Boundary Waters Wilderness area and the Interior Department won’t let them. Because it would destroy the environment in the area and affect three hundred species of plants and animals.
We also learn that the US is negotiating agreements with Japan and the EU to provide those critical minerals in addition to what we produce here. And we learn that Republicans since the time of Reagan have been blocking a Treaty allowing for undersea mining. Why, I have no idea.
