NYRA TURF ROUTES
I have an idea.
After watching countless races go 26 52 117 and then come home supposedly in 21 and change......
I don't remember the last time (besides this year) that horses supposedly came home in sub 22 in Turf Routes.
Why not just make every Turf Route a 2F turf sprint. That way we can eliminate the guess work as to who will have the advantage in these crazy choke a thons and just fast forward to the only quarter that these jocks want to run in, the last one.

Not talking about any 1 race in particular. Just speaking overall.

Boston Stranglers - I have had it with NYRA.
Saratoga is dead to me.
Zero interest.

The euros have been racing routes in this manner for decades.
I once heard a prominent trainer say this.
"Over there they run a mile and a half in an hour and a half"...
It is just the style of the racing....It is accepted as is....

Ok...What would you have them do then?
Instead of complaining, produce a solution.
Thanking you in advance.

I am halfway nuts but I have 1 insane idea.
Pay 15% of the purse to the leader after 1/4 of a mile. Pay 15% of the purse to the leader after 1/2 a mile.
OK, back to sanity as that can never work.
I have no solution. Just avoid many races at NYRA in turf routes, especially at the higher class levels.
In those cheap races, you many times get more action early.

Question. Why not handicap the turf routes using the info you have based on the way these races are contested?
At the end of the day, it makes no difference how they run the race. As handicappers, we have to figure that out.

It is not my responsibility to solve their problems.
My solution is not play NYRA tracks.
Lots of tracks running every day.
I am not the only one who thinks this way.

I feel like the inner turf and the Widener are night and day different at Belmont ....no stats or anything but it usually seems hard to rally wide on the inner and the Widener is just the opposite and you want to be wide turning for home ...
In regards to the strangling ....if anything these jocks should be strangling on the dirt! The rail and the first couple paths have been like quicksand at belmont and the pace setters have been nowhere to be found ....i once again don't have data but belmont dirt seems to be anti speed and dead rail more times than not over years

I do. Believe me I do. It's when you see 4 speed horses in a race and only 1 remotely has any interest (for the lead) in a race that irks me.
When I see 1 or 2 speeds, I just go to town on the 2 speeds There is no way they will kill eachother out there.
But as a fan, it's very boring to see these parades so often.

I like this, let's do it for at least a month and come up with some new exotics built around it 😂

Ok....fine. sometimes your posts seem bitter.
BTW, who says the running style is a problem?

The only issues with Belmont turf races are the one mile in the inner and 8.5f races on the Widener. Inside posts seem to be disadvantaged at those distances.
Now, strangling. I don't see that.
When a horse wants to go and is throwing his head about or has a choppy action, yes the rider is trying to control a horse that wants to run off.
Most often though, I see horses on the front end of routes relaxed and smooth gaited. Nothing wrong with that.
The way I see it is the jocks laying off the pace can do whatever they want. If they think the pace is too slow, they can go to the front and make a faster pace.

I have no problem with the running styles.
I prefer closers to lightening fast races over out of the gate.
My patience ends with the constant grabbing of horses and taking them out of the race out of the gate, dirt or turf.
I think the NYRA jockey colony has some very poor riders, OR some of the stupidest trainers for telling them to grab.
That and now the re-occurring failure to time races correctly, and the stupid idea of changing rail settings.....I don't need it. LOTS of other tracks out there.
My solutions is cut purses significantly.
Maybe is second or third money was not enough to live on, the riders would try a little harder.
No matter, lots of other tracks.
Class my ass - all that matters is the payoffs.
Give me a track where the jock needs the money for dinner.
