Yankees at Boston tonight 10/5/21

I normally think these "OTHER CITY SUCKS" articles featuring opposing city bashing are dumb , I like this one though. Author gives his/her reasons why NYC is better than Boston:

(excerpt)
●There are no superheroes from Boston.
●They would all move here if they could.
●They’re jerks: Massachusetts is 47th most friendly state, according to a survey by Big 7 Travel.
●Chumps — New York ranks 50th. If you’re going to be rude, go big.

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black!

Yanks will win tonight. Their bullpen is loaded.

thaskalos 10-05-2021 04:26 PM

The Yankees don't deserve the favoritism in this game...IMO. I am taking Boston +122

CheckMark 10-05-2021 04:50 PM

Yankees-131

Don’t really like them lol but that’s who I like tonight

lamboguy 10-05-2021 05:05 PM

i am going to the game, my first game at Fenway since 1985. i just got a price of Yankees -140 and the Red Sox + 130.

i like the Yankees because the very same matchup smoked the Red Sox the last time they played.. i am a Yankee fan, but i am going to bet the Red Sox because i think the price should not be any higher than -115.

Redboard 10-05-2021 05:06 PM

Boston sucks — and these are all the reasons why

thaskalos 10-05-2021 06:55 PM

I came up with Boston -118 in this game...and I've got about an hour to double-check my math.

sharkey11 10-05-2021 07:42 PM

try the red sox +122:ThmbUp:

sharkey11 10-05-2021 09:16 PM

lambo you got a man in NY. great line :headbanger:

Fred Mertz 10-05-2021 09:42 PM

Don't you boys know to root, root, root for the home team?

If they don't win its a shame.

Light 10-06-2021 12:46 AM

I've been a lifelong Yankee fan (since age 10 living in Bklyn) but this is the worst team I've ever seen of the Yankees in a post season ever. I didn't watch the other Covid post seasons. Nor did I watch 98% of this regular season. They have Judge and Stanton and the rest are garbage.

What really blows my mind is Gardner batting 6th. OMG! IMO this guy has to be either the worst player in the majors or top 3 worst. He has been washed up for years and should have retired long ago. How many times did he strike out tonight,I lost count, but no surprise. And this is your 6th place hitter? WOW!

And when your clean up hitter is hitting 199, you really need an overhaul. Maybe should have put some of that money they threw away on Cole into someone who can hit in place of Gardner or Gallo. Steinbrenner must be turning over in his grave.

Richie 10-06-2021 05:59 AM

i agree
cashman should be fired just for the hicks - gardener love affair

Another choke by the Yankees again like I always hate it when all the publications (newspapers, media, magazines etc) always seem to place the Yankees either as winning the division, making it to the ALCS, making it to the World Series or winning the World Series so I should’ve taken the Red Sox just because of that sorta-statistic lol that they always are projected to go far but always choke in the playoffs

lamboguy 10-06-2021 10:17 AM

the Red Sox have a lot of holes in them, their starting left fielder didn't play J.D, Martinez and their ace reliever, Matt Barnes was unavailable. their outfielders have great arms but play deep. they don't have a good second baseman and the rest of the infield can hit but can't field that great. the starting catcher is adequate. the starting pitching as a whole is very slightly better than average in the league.

they won last night because they have a better front office and a good manager. going forward, the Devil Rays are a real good organization with the right ballplayers on the field at all times. to beat them the Red Sox will have to draw to an inside straight.

sharkey11 10-06-2021 11:02 AM

try the dogers -1- runs -105  gl all

Matt Barnes has been shit since the All Star Game. Kyle Schwerber and J.d. Martinez are DH's at best. Renfroe in right field has a great arm but has a case of the dropsies. Dalbec is a decent defensive first baseman but needs to get the bat hot again. Chris Sale has been getting knocked around, Edwin Rodriguez is the poster boy for inconsistency, The only starting pitcher resembling a stopper is Eovoldi. Closer by committee doesn't scare anyone.

Tampa has had the Red Sox number all season and I don't see that changing.

If you are going to criticize the starting pitchers of the Red Sox...it's only fair that you would provide us with a brief comment about your opinion of the Rays' starting pitchers. Can the group of Yarbrough, Wacha, McClanahan, and Hill be called anything but PATHETIC?

I've got a wonderfully precise mathematical way of handicapping these baseball games, Mark. If only I could get these teams to follow it...:)

I've watched just about all of the Red Sox games this year, so I am very familiar with the team. The Rays not so much. Head to head, the Rays are just a better team and are very clutch. They do a terrific job of timely hitting. Not a fan of Meadows in left but he seems to up his game against Boston. Their bullpen has been lights out against the Red Sox. Since the all star game, the Red Sox 'pen has been inconsistent at best and atrocious at worst.

overall pitching stats 2021

BOS 4.27

Opponent BA allowed

TB .232

More info on the Red Sox...

Since the All Star Game the 'SOX have faced the Rays 13 times with the Red Sox losing 9.

They have a below .500 record against all AL playoff teams

3 wins 4 losses against the White Sox
2 wins 5 losses against the Astros
8 wins 11 losses against the Rays

that looks like a great price to get on this game. i don't know much about either team and need Gus's lines!

sharkey11 10-08-2021 12:26 PM

i live a couple of blocks away from Boston College. but i am going to spend more time in Florida and on a boat. i had a place on 110th Ave in Ocala, but i am now out of the horse business and we sold the training center.

sharkey11 10-10-2021 11:01 AM

give Rays a try today @+106

lamboguy 10-10-2021 11:20 AM

this game looks like its more important for the Red Sox to win without going deep into their bullpen. their best set up man right now, Houk, pitched 4 or 5 innings in the second game and probably won't be ready to pitch again until game 5. i don't know why they make such a big deal of pitch counts, but they do!

now if the series goes to game 5 and if it was up to me, I would start Houk instead of Chris Sales. but i am not the one calling the shots!

sharkey11 10-11-2021 04:01 PM

give rays a try @ even +100:ThmbUp:

CheckMark 10-13-2021 07:32 AM

Sorry to jimmyb and the Rays losing the series vs the Red Sox

The matchups now for World Series are (for me)
Red Sox vs Giants
Astros vs Dodgers
Red Sox vs Dodgers
Astros vs Giants

I don’t mind the Braves but just think that the Giants and Dodgers are much better team(s) vs them. So we will see what happens

thaskalos 10-15-2021 01:02 AM

Giants eliminated on the worst umpire call that anyone is ever likely to see.

I've never seen a worse one, at the worst possible time.

my cynical side of things thinks that umpire either wanted to get out of the place before the game could possibly go to extra innings, or he or one of his friends bet the Dodgers for big money as the slight underdog.

Absolutely agree and not even that close. Umpire needs to be sent back to Single A and I'm sure he's been left some anonymous messages by irate fans.

try the red sox +105

i didn't like the way they played last night. the Red Sox grounded into too many double plays when they were threatening, the Astro's shifted their defense and the batters still tried to pull the baseball instead of trying to go to the wide-open holes in the defense like the Astro's succeeded.

sharkey11 10-16-2021 06:54 PM

i agree on all your points . big shift why not lay a bunt down at least try to keep em honest . i liked the bet because of the line drop sox opened @ +135 thats what got me . any how being from there partly to :pound: 3 more innings to go gl all:headbanger:

the Red Sox clobbered the ball in Game 2.

the new series price seems a bit off to me, they are making the Astro's a slight favorite. i have it the opposite. this is probably going to be a wild series that goes the distance. so far the Astro's are pitching Jose Urquiddy on Monday.. no idea who the Red Sox have. if i was betting, i would be going for the Astro's no matter who goes for the Red Sox on Monday. i would then come back with the Sox in Game 4 +5 and look for a 7th game.
