In 1933 Art Rooney Sr hit a $2500 parlay at the track and franchised (bought) the Pittsburgh Steelers.
When his sons married he gave them a race track.

Hopefully it's not the end for Yonkers Raceway. I hope that rumor of a potential one mile harness track for Yonkers at Belmont becomes reality.

Can't see it being the end of harness racing here. Too many people upstate depend on it.

That's only a part of it.

The BIG part is a FULL-SCALE CASINO by 2022.
Extra 50 million in the deal for Yonkers if that happens by then.

NY has to give the new Upstate casino in the Catskills time to get established first.
