Alexandria Ocasio-Ortez

She ran on a grass roots campaign as a 28 year old bartender that was for the people she lived among.

Extremely impressive. And she won.

She took down a 10 term Rep that was likely to replace Nancy Pelosi as House Minority Leader.

She ran on a platform of essentially free shit for everybody. She ran as a confirmed Socialist. And won.

This should scare the shit out of everybody.

It is scary if the dem leadership keeps on misreading voting blocs which is now allowing avowed socialists to win primaries.

Let's see how the DNC and dem Leadership actually act during election. Will they support her campaign giving big bucks and administrative support or not?

She was outspent nearly 20/1. Crowley was the Dem support without any doubt.

There were 2 debates. Fatass didn't show up for either.

Make no doubt about it. The 18-34 year old Millennial vote is critical.

I don't think her opponent in the general election will be making the same mistake.

The DNC and dem leadership keep misreading voting blocs, especially the Hispanic/ Latino voting blocs, that is why you have this result. It will be interesting to see how the national and local party backs Alexandria Ocasio-Ortez, with resources, in the general election.

Agree. And an excellent point.

Misreading? I'm pretty sure she is a shoo-in for the general election. I take it you're not a New Yorker? Her district is bluer than blue!

Anyway, all politics is local - the Dems are the ones who need to consider this result carefully and decide how far left they want to go down the road.

That gave me a :D too. The general won't be competitive.

Are you misreading my post? For your edification, I said the dem's misread the voting bloc, which led to the defeat of their preferred candidate. They took for granted Crowley would win.

Yes, the dems need to consider this result very carefully, thus my comments about the resources they may or may not commit to her campaign. It is not about being competitive, it is about the message the party sends about its feelings regarding the candidate.

I may have missed it in my posts. Could you point out for me where I said that this specific election would be competitive or that she would lose if the DNC and dem leadership at the national and local level withheld resources?

And older, white male politicians are rapidly falling out of favor with them. And older and white is one of the big reasons why Hillary lost.

The only reason Crazy Bernie resonated with them is because he spoke their crazy socialist-globalist, anti-American language.

The Dems establishment hides their true ideological identity and agenda, while she's very outspoken on both counts. She's going to be real thorn in the establishment's side because she puts them in a catch-22 dilemma whether they overtly support her or not. It'll be interesting to see how they handle her.

Nail on head.

We should all be scared of the "me first and only me" Millennials.

Everything for free, open borders. Have at it.

They all expect somebody else to pay the bill other than themselves. Other peoples money. They'll spend it like nobodies business.

 You said:

"I don't think her opponent in the general election will be making the same mistake."

We're saying it won't matter if her opponent makes the same mistake or not. She wins easy.

Why else would you make that statement unless you were implying the opponent has a chance?
