Looking for a programmer for a small project

I have a small project that involves downloading some files from a site that is maintained by trackinfo.com and then converting and renaming them to a .txt file.

I currently use a manual process that involves accessing the site using Internet Explorer Right Clicking on the .html Program file and selecting open in new window. I then select the ALT & F Key and then click on save as. Rename the file and save as a .txt file.

There is currently a total of 5 Tracks that I would do this process for.

The site that is accessed requires a username and password.

So, basically I am looking for a program that can download the .html Programs and Charts to specified directories based on the 2 Character Track Name.

Only the .html Programs need to be renamed and saved as a text file which can then be processed by the handicapping program that I am using. This is for Greyhound Racing.

Task scheduler probably won't work as you can launch tasks from it but I don't recall if you can create scripts/macros with it. You could probably try a macro recorder. Here is a link to a few: macro recorders

A couple listed are free so there is little downside to trying them. Make sure to virus scan before installation just to be safe. I assume you are using Windows but you can find macro recorders for all operating systems.

What you describe could also be done in Excel, I imagine, but you might need some VBA code.

OK,,,,,,,, IT'S' been a while, but don't you need to have task scheduler launch the macro?? if you're going to do it unattended?

Personally I would just write the code to do it, but once the macro is written I don't see it as too much of an issue to click "Start Macro" or however it launches. The OP needs the steps automated but I assumed he would be at the PC ready to work with the data. And yes, he could probably further automate it with Task Scheduler if need be.

Not sure if a Macro would work since I would be dealing with 5 Tracks and the XProgram.html Files would have to be renamed from this WHEELING-May27-Friday-Afternoon-XProgram.html to this WD0527A.txt

1) 2 Character Track Code
2) 2 digit Month
3) 2 digit Day
4) single Character Performance

Afternoon = A
Evening = E
Twilight = E

The Program would not have to run automatically or via Task Scheduler. I would prefer to kick it off manually.

Sadly, by next year the only dog tracks left in the US will be Wheeling and Tri State, both in West Virgnia.

Yes, unfortunately that is the case.

Greyhound Racing had it right with providing free Data that could be imported into various Handicapping Software.

From the response so far, I guess there are no programmers that are interested in this small project.

There are no small programming projects.
