Pick3 prices at Keeneland

Check out this comparison today between Keen, GPW and Laurel.

GPW Pick3 seq: $87.20 (win prices total, no faves) 28 runners, paid $4213.

Laurel Pick3 seq: $83.20 (win prices total, no faves) 34 runners, paid $2563.

Keen Pick3 seq: $79.60 (win prices total, no faves) 34 runners, paid $668.

Which would you rather play as a Pick3 player?

Pretty obvious. Moving on, I want your dog. :D

I think I bet on your dog today!:D

Yes it totally makes sense to not play a pick 3 sequence that you totally feel confident about because it may or may not have value because of the track. :bang: :bang: :bang:

So prices, number of runners, and takeout don't matter to you?

ZippyChippy423 10-21-2018 10:14 AM

Not if im “ in the know” or feel confident about a pick. Never let the price deter you from a strong play ever! I know someone who handicapped a pick 4 at Calder several years ago but didnt play it because he thought the take out percentage was too high. It came out and paid like 35k.

Pretty sure my arithmetic is correct. Where did I screw up?

Are you showing just the $.50 payoff from Laurel? GPW appears to be for $1.00.

Redhook206 10-21-2018 01:16 PM

These are all .50 cent payouts.

It's a matter of both opinion as well as stubbornness...

I prefer playing 20 cent PK 6's @ Laurel, PId and 10 centers at LAD with short fields. I can get some good coverage for $44 and possibly take down a $4000 pot with one longshot opposed to playing the Rainbow 6 at GP with 13 horse fields and three 2 YO MSW races mixed in there.

I'm not a pick 3 player so I may be wrong about this, but I think you are allowed to play all three.

Separate pools, one does not effect the other. Could be that people spread out more in the sequence at Keeneland or keyed a specific horse in the sequence thus lowering the payout. Need to look and see if they beat a BIG favorite in one of the legs at the other two tracks or were the winners true longshots at Keeneland or were they 2nd or 3rd choices that were played but not for the win in that race. There are many variables that affect the payouts in the horizontals none of them being the win payout of the races.

So the guy handicapped the entire Pick 4, came up with a play, and after all that suddenly decided to look up the takeout and refused to make the bet?

Sounds plausible... :bang:
