Is this right about Stronach and Liebeu?

Clip from the article:

Thumbs Down

To racetrack owners Frank Stronach (Santa Anita and Golden Gate Fields) and Jack Liebau (Hollywood Park), who don't campaign their horses in California. What message does that send about California's product that two track owners run their horses in the Midwest and East Coast?

Of course, Liebau doesn't "own" Hollywood Park. He is just the GM there. And, not following a lot of racing details anymore, I don't know what horses either guy is campaigning or where. I do recall a Liebau maiden winning in the east recently, either at Toga or Monmouth.

I saw that. Amazing.

It is correct if that is what you are asking.

I'm not following you. If they didn't like the surface and didn't feel it was in their horses' best interest to race over them, why do you think they should've raced there anyway?

This is sensible behavior. If you have a horse in CA that doesn't like synthetic or turf, you might as well ship out. If you have a horse outside CA that likes synthetic, you might consider taking him to CA where he will have plenty of opportunities and the purses will be attractive.
