Or maybe the other penalties aren't severe enough.

I don't really get why 60 days suspension is too severe for:

1. Getting a horse DQd from one of our biggest races for illegal drugs
2. Training/racing on steroids, which the public thought was banned
3. Knowing his horse tested positive mere days before and still running

Well like his daughter stated most trainers receive 45 days or less and a lesser fine
You got scumbag trainers keeping horses in a stall with a broken leg getting only 45 days and Ellis for the most part has been a trainer who played by the rules

He wasn't playing by the rules really when he figured out how to get around running horses on steroids. Masochistic wasn't the only one either, nor was the BC his only race that he ran on steroids.

It's not apples and apples regarding the guy who had the horse with a broken leg. I'm not in any way condoning what he did, but he wasn't totally evil in that he's the one who reached out to a rescue group to take the horse and told them that he had a problem. In a case of "Be careful what you ask for," he and the next guy with a horse in a similar situation may either euthanize the horse or give away to a slaughter guy.

If we want to compare apples, what is the punishment from the same governing body for a similar offense, which would be a DQ in a G1 for steroids knowing the horse tested positive mere days before the race?

I agree that there should be equal penalties for equal offenses, but maybe instead of making light of what Ellis did, we should demand more for equal and worse offenders.

Also, the CHRB should be hit with a penalty too for the tacit approval of what Ellis was doing by knowing he was training his horses on steroids yet not stopping him.

Looked terrible today

Nice to see Tyler Blaze act like an old school jock on the winner. Went to the front and dared them to catch him.

Masochistic was last? Or next to last........

I bet Edwards Going Left at post time at 4 to 1. He dropped to 2 to 1 by the time they hit the far turn. :)
