WTF? Collapse in Miami

How does something like this happen? Especially the way it looks in the aftermath....it doesn't look, to this layman, as just a structural failure? It looks like SOMETHING destroyed a part of this building?

Looks like an explosion of some sort, buildings like that dont just collapse on their own.

PaceAdvantage 06-24-2021 09:43 AM

So I guess I wasn't looking at this scene correctly.

Looks like an entire section of condos just fell down. There has to be so much loss of life here if that is true...it would help if they had a before shot of the building...but looking at it with this perspective, it's a horror story.

Sinkhole perhaps?

tamaharbor 06-24-2021 10:24 AM

Meth lab?

There would be no mistaking the chemical odor. Most explosives leave an odor also.
My guess is structural failure, as a portion of the building was unaffected.

Always look the other way……it’s a distraction

Structural failure. No doubt about it.

Imagine that. Anything PaceAdvantage comments on...you take the other side.

PaceAdvantage...PLEASE post here that you think water is wet.

I encourage him to look up the definition of "wetness" before doing so, because water itself IS NOT wet. Just a little FYI.

At first I thought the builder left out the rebar but you can see a lot of it in this picture. Maybe it was skipped on one or more of the lower floors? Maybe a sinkhole is at fault? Time will tell.

I was going to mention that is depends on what state water is in, but then we would have the whole blue/red thing happening in this thread. ;)

I thought sink hole first thing, then the more I saw, it reminded my of OK City.
Best to keep an open mind and get the facts....if they decide to tell us.
