How many $100K+ careers are there in the industry?
I sometimes romanticize the idea of working in an industry of which I am a huge fan, as I have skillsets where I could be an asset to a track, circuit or ADV.
But, then I wonder, outside of owners, trainers, jockeys, agents, buyers, etc. (the true Horsemen) - how many jobs are paying $100k or more? This is what I would consider a strong middle-class USA salary these days, which of course is dependent upon where you live.
Track announcers, handicappers and on-air personalities can't be making too much based on what I've heard here and elsewhere, aside from the few well-known outliers. But, I often wonder how lucrative even those gigs are for the names we all know.
Not looking for anyone to share personal salary info, but curious PA's perspectives on this.

A bit more than you might guess, my friend. No complaints concerning what the show pays. But that compensation would less suffice if not augmented by my day job as a racing official. Hope all is well with you.

Given the fact that I can honestly say I have NEVER had to do a REAL day's work in my life.
I couldn't be happier with my compensation!
What a GIFT FROM GOD that I knew at age 15 (for sure) what I wanted to do with my life and was right!

I'm not saying this to be snarky or start an argument.
How exactly do you know the INDUSTRY so well?
Have you worked in racing?

I've been running this board since 1999.
Don't you think you'd know the answer to this question by now if I wanted to share personal stuff about me?:lol::lol:
I'm not here to be known.
Never have been.

I'm not talking about personal, personal stuff.
And I've appreciated you running this board since 1999.
I'm just not sure how that qualifies you as an insider?
It can't be from these pages.
While entertaining to be sure. 99.99% of the people who seem to think they know how our game really works. clearly don't.
The other 00.01% get accused of being industry mouthpiece shills.
Not trying to start anything.
You've always treated me fairly.

In great mood with new house nearly complete. Nice house-but never said it was a mansion. Lol...
Ranch , three bedrooms, two car garage..2100 sq feet. Havd stretched to pay for it without borrowing money. The finished basement was our smartest decision.
But my wife is the real dough. She is a much respectrd RN with seniority and some authority.
Feel free to pm me. As I said, in upbeat mood. And i trust your discretion.

I wasn't questioning your salary. I took your comment to mean there are more $100k jobs in the industry then people think.
I am in the opposite camp...maybe I just don't know the right people.
