2d Annual PA Arlington Park Outing

[Mods...maybe we change the title of this section to just Annual Pace Advantage Arlington Outing]

As spring is (sorta) in the air I think it is time to look towards setting the dates for this year's Arlington Outing. Everyone had a great time last year....and expressed a desire to make this an annual event. And for those who could not attend last year...make plans to join us!!! I will do my best to again coordinate with some other locals and track management to get a couple of guests etc to enhance the weekend. We will shoot for a similar set up (boxes etc...this year I will see if we can get a couple more of the boxes with tables for the computers)

Like last year, we will set it up for a Fri (3 PM post)/Sat (1 PM)/Sun (1 PM) and look to have dinner Sat night.

Looking at the calendar.....best options appear to be June 7/8/9 (Belmont Stakes weekend btw so could be a bit more crowded if there is a potential Triple Crown) or June 21/22/23 . In between is Fathers day weekend and the last weekend in June won't work for me. I think June is ideal - it was fairly warm but not unbearable last year. We can look to July if need be, but let's start first with one of these two weekends.

So post here if you are interested in attending and a preference on which weekend. Also, if you have contacts which could be useful and/or ideas on what could enhance the weekend (besides betting on some winners!!), let me know.

Looking forward to seeing many of you who attended last year and many new faces as well.

Jon (your friendly tour guide operator)

Jon, I will definitely be there...regardless of what days we finally decide upon.

Nothing would please me more than to see you and the gang again...and, now that we have gotten the introductions over with, I predict that we'll have an even better time this time around.

I hope to be there this time. Last summer was a great outing and I look forward to meeting the group again.

With that being said, I might be traveling during that time. In the time after I graduate and start my career I hope to get some travel in seeing as travel time is greatly limited once I start working. With that being said, count me in for now until plans are more concrete.

Jon, I prefer the weekend after Father's Day.

illinoisbred 04-13-2013 07:27 AM

Looking forward to it Jon! Any weekend is good for me.

I'll be sure to take off and travel back for the weekend...you guys were great. No Father's Day weekend please.

look forward to seeing all that will be there..

Stuball - really hope you can make it...was a lot of fun having you there last year.

Gents - got this note (below) from Dave Zenner at Arlington and thought I'd pass it along. Management there is again stepping up to make this an enjoyable weekend.

This is setting up to be another great time. :jump: :jump: As we get closer I will need to get a count (and for dinner as well....we will likely go to the same restaurant as I think that worked great or everyone) but please do post here if you are thinking about attending.

Dave's note:
Jon:

Copied on this e-mail is Steve Tortorella, who is our VIP Player Development Specialist (who is also in charge of the boxes).

Here is what I have proposed to Steve, who thinks this will work fine – please let me know your thoughts.

Fri, June 21: Two Exec box with table (14 seats), plus any additional GA needed. If you don’t think you’ll need two boxes, please let us know so we can put those back into circulation.

Sat., June 22: Four exec boxes with table (28 seats) plus any add’l GA needed – again if you need less, please let me know as there are two stakes races that day that will require a number of boxes so the return of any unused by your group would be greatly appreciated.

Sun, June 23: One exec box (7 seats) plus add’l GAs. (Let me know needs on that day as I recall your Sunday needs being light last year).

As the event gets closer, I will work on having Jessica etc. stop by – perhaps we can do a paddock tour etc. but we’ll talk as the event closer.

Please direct all future e-mails on this topic to both Steve and myself, though I will continue to take the lead.

Sorry to say that I can't make it that weekend, but 2014!

I have to be in New York state that weekend, but all is not lost, will get to be at Belmont for at least one day, and will hit Presque Isle Downs on my way in. 2 tracks to add to my list of acquired tracks.

That's too bad but have a great trip. I'm up to 55 tracks in my lifetime (5 countries)....can't recall if I have hit PID off-hand. Grew up in NY so hit all those; Belmont was closest t'bred to me (old Roosevelt Raceway was closest harness)

Have a great trip!

At last count, I am up to 40 with many, many more to cover.
