When you win a bet do you....?
After the adrenaline rush ends do you start getting pissed that you wish you had more money on that horse?
or
* Wish you just did a straight as all your horses ran like you'd though
* Wish you did a Pick 4 because you had the winner in the prior race
* Wish youd done a Trifecta instead cause your third pick ran 3rd and after looking at the screen it paid almost $1000 to your $100 exacta
I do this everytime for some reason. It must be a mental aspect lol

When I win a bet I thank my lucky stars and look for that blue moon.
Then like Dave, I move on to the next race.

I have been doing this too long, the adrenalin rush is rarely there due to bets. This is probably a bad thing.

No, I find that I am pretty relaxed after I win a bet...regardless of how much profit it brings me. I reserve my aggravation for the times when I lose.

If it's a longshot winner, I think that I have found the "holy grail" and dream about going on a long winning streak. The hope is quickly dashed after the next race is run.

When I win at craps especially after my roll, I quit, and carry the rush for perhaps the day, have dinner, go to the pool, have a massage, and just hang out with friends and have a beer.
I know I just got lucky.
Now when I was betting the horses and won, I figured my system was starting to hit, and continued betting until the system busted:confused::faint:

After every race I have invested I look at the results, record them and regardless of results ask myself if I wagered properly on this race. If my top two investments were possibly serious scores. This may not be along the topic but after any winning day of $300 of more I pull 10% and put into a separate account and not to be touched until a defined date, bi-annualy. Thank you George S. Clason.

Being an avid reader...I've been buying books every winning day with 10% of my gambling winnings, for the last 30 years. I may have lost all my winnings back...but I have over 8,000 books in my home library.

Dangerous to form betting decisions in the heat of the moment.
There's a tendency to try to win back the money if you lose, and a tendency to warp reality to fit your 'woulda coulda shoulda' when you win small.
'Post mortems' are important just wait until you cool off emotionally, and keep in mind the tendency to be biased.
If something like a Pick-4 woulda coulda shoulda pops into your head, do a legitimate workthrough for that later while consciously avoiding biases and assumptions that the results were set in stone. Sometimes you work through a sequence after the race and realize you shoulda played. Sometimes you work it through and it was an expensive ticket that benefited from a random long shot in the sequence, and wasn't really a smart bet after all.

yawn
I usually wake up from my dream to the harsh reality that the horse dropped from 7-1 to 9/5 thanks to the management in horse racing. I am finding it more rewarding every day to go sit outside and watch the wildlife in my santuary. Humming birds- Orioles - finches of all colors - bluebirds - rose breasted grosbeaks - squirrels - butterflies - all my flowers... It is really rewarding to give back to nature what I have taken for granted for the bigger part of my life...
