What is “The Bluest Eye” about? Never having read the book, you think it’s about deviate-about rape and incest and pedophilia.

There are those elements, but The Bluest Eye is really about being black in late 1930’s America. It’s about being defined by other people and not having the power to even question that definition. It’s about friendship and family-sometimes not the greatest family or the best friends.

Toni Morrison is not some hack writer. She is a highly respected author, winner of numerous awards. But you continue to ignore her. You can always get you fiction from JustRalph, Boxcar and XTB.

I don't need to read a fictional book to learn about how crappy being black in the 1930's was. I can acquire that knowledge from Sirius Radio channel 74 also known as BB King's Bluesville. They play a lot of blues from the 20's on through the end of Jim Crow, and tell the true stories of the artists and how they lived. A couple of the early blues stars who met an early death were assumed to be poisoned while performing for mostly white crowds. A good rule of thumb was for a black person never to accept a drink or open bottle of liquor from a white person. I can listen to that and work.

Closest book to where I sit at my desk is in arm's reach. "Handbook of Simplified Electrical Wiring Design", misleading title as in the preface it says the purpose of the book is to help a journeyman electrician solve wiring problems. The book is quite advanced. I have had that book for over 40 years, now I mostly use it to consult wiring size charts and the formulas for voltage drop my brain does not retain. That is mostly done helping others on a manufacturing forum where a lot of podunk machine shop owners share advice.

That book has saved 10's of thousands of dollars for those I worked for, while getting a lot of time and a half and double time, my friends, family and of course me. Other than punching a clock I did very few jobs for pay.
It was pizza and beer for small jobs, and labor trade for large jobs.

A good example of saving myself money is the phase converter I built. It converts single phase power into the needed 3 phase for a lot of industrial equipment. They don't have 3 phase power available in backwards area where a lot of podunk machine shops are so we make our own.

A model like I have cost over $2k off the shelf plus $500 to ship because they are heavy. I made my own, I think I have about $300 in total it in and it is over 25 years old. They require maintenance, especially in areas with high summer humidity. I don't have to call an electrician to work on it or drag it to a repair shop, I do it myself.

So that is one non fiction book that reaps huge financial rewards, and endears you to a lot of people. Nothing like someone on a tight budget get away with paying for pizza and beer instead of $300 from an electrician because a wall socket died.

What benefit do you get from reading your fiction?

Inner Dirt 04-02-2023 06:31 PM

From reading non fiction I have also self taught myself all the construction trades except grading and pouring cement. When I have needed those jobs done I hire them out. My first machine shop I almost doubled the size of my garage hiring out nothing. I did not need to hire out the cement work as there wasn't any as I just used the drive way for the foundation and just drilled the cement to set sill plate anchors. I spent about $3500 at the time,
hired out that would have been $12-15K.

Even recently I relocated and installed a new electrical service entrance, replaced the wiring and plumbing to the well, that was 2021. That cost me about $2,000, including paying the neighbor $700 to dig and fill a trench and jack hammer the foundation out where I needed to run water pipe and conduit into the house. He has a tractor with a back hoe, and a better back and wrists than I do for using a jack hammer. There I probably saved myself $10k, all from reading non fiction books, pre internet long ago.

Who in God's name would bad mouth someone for not reading fiction? Only Cliffy has a reason to badmouth people he hates because of their political beliefs.

The link above is to the March 21, 2023 Meeting of the Fairport Board of Education. The same meeting referenced in the Rumble video. But this version shows us all the comments. It’s all contained in the first hour.

What it shows us is that over 70% of the speakers on this issue (5 out of 7) strongly supported the school board. 70% did not want other parents telling them what their children could or could not read. Five out of seven respected their child’s ability to make good decisions. 70% believed in that first amendment even when it exposed them to ideas they might be uncomfortable with.

One thing this video did not do is include extraneous slides and videos that were not part of the presentation to the board and were probably fictitious in any case.

Everything's a lie when it goes against far-left fascists.

The 1st amendment is only important to far-left fascists when it might help their indoctrination agenda stay alive.

You are more than just an extreme liberal and most likely pedophile. Boxcar is correct, you are truly evil. You trolled me first telling me you didn't know what a bond action is. Then you didn't know what video I was talking about then insisted the video I posted did not contain any reference to a Kindergarten - 2nd grade school or any school below high school where inappropriate books were. I showed you exactly where in the video these books were searched up in the elementary school and middle school. Now you redirect to a video of the school board meeting where 5 out of 7 parents at the meeting support the school board. The 5 parents that supported the board spoke before the parent spoke who served the board members with the bond action. At least two of those parents are activists, none of them addressed the actual content of the books. It was "banning books is bad". The applause for the last parent who described the books in graphic detail and then served the board, was very telling. He clearly had the support of most of the audience.

The guy with the Antifa shirt is a transplant from Massachusetts, the one who tried to equate his objection of meat in the school cafeteria to parents' objection to graphic sexual books in the school libraries. When he was the deputy mayor of the village, he tried to turn a park in my neighborhood into low income housing. Needless to say, he was driven out of his position.

The bald black lady is a well known racist and bi-sexual, which she doesn't attempt to hide. She is a welfare queen with a blog called "Black in the Burbs". She spends her time causing trouble, going so far as to track down people who "like" certain posts on facebook she disagrees with and harassing them.

The last lady who spoke is totally clueless.

I know many parents who are enraged about this like myself.

Those "extraneous slides and videos" you speak of were not part of the school board meeting but are very real and accurate in describing the books and where they are located. Most of the books are in the high school but at least 3 are in an elementary (k-2) and middle (6-8) school. The slides of the book searches from the libraries of those schools are very real and not "fictitious".

This is my school district mostpost. Go fuck yourself.

You’re accusing mostpost of pedophilia?

That’s pretty f*****up.

Shame on you.

Amazing that it took you until the 35 th post in this thread to mention it was your school district. That would have been the first thing I mentioned. Let me be clear. I think you are lying. I think you are lying about that. I think you are lying about the black woman being a racist and a welfare queen, and I think you calling her a welfare queen is proof that you are a racist.

What guy with an Antifa t-shirt? Antifa members don’t wear identity information. Anonymity is their whole thing. We get it. You’re in favor of fascists and he had on a shirt that was opposed to fascists.

I don’t believe your bulls*#% about Massachusetts. But feel free to provide proof. Include the name of the town in Massachusetts. The years he was Deputy Mayor. The name of the park. When he wanted to turn it into public housing and the town board meeting(s) at which this was discussed and rejected.

What do I care about what PA knows. I don’t believe him any more than I believe you. If he had any integrity he would have banned you the instant you accused me of being a pedophile. An accusation that is as far from the truth as anything could be. I do admit to being a chocoholic.

Kudos to the new school superintendent who had the brass to overrule the unanimous decision by a school district committee who wanted this pornographic trash in school libraries for kids to easily access. I have little doubt some depraved liberal organization will challenge this superintendent's decision in court.

The Bible has plenty of sex in it. Rape, onanism, voyeurism, prostitution, etc. Get it out of our school libraries.
