BAD SHOW BET
 

Someone just made over a 2k show bet on the 9 horse in race 4 at Woodbine. The horse was 70-1. The only reason I know is I had a $50WS bet on the 6 at 8-1. He finished 2nd to a 6/5 shot. The winner paid $4.30 to show and I got $6.70 to show.

I think the bettor was supposed to bet the 9 to show in the 3rd or 5th, lol.

More likely that someone seeded the pool to cash a bet with several overseas websites.

Could be. I was thinking someone made the bet on the 3-5 in the 3rd and left the track not realizing the mistake. BTW, the 3-5 shot jogged and paid $2.70 to show:headbanger::headbanger::headbanger:

You can't get away with that for very long, if at all.
Those establishments protect themselves with a comprehensive set of rules.

Doesn’t mean someone wouldn’t try it before they realized they won’t pay it off...

It's a prime example of why real bookmakers are wary of pari-mutuel pools.
They can be manipulated.

And think about how much they would have to be betting on the other horses in this case to make any money. And they have to be RIGHT About the in the money finishers



No one (bookmaking) is taking huge "show only" bets like that afaik.
