Concierge medicine fills a niche....as predicted

I have posted about this kind of thing happening........... and here it comes.
Doctors opting out etc is what is going to happen. The "just off shore" medicine groups will be next. A couple of small airlines are now considering routes to Bermuda from the Atlantic States...... wonder why? Couldn't be the fantastic boom in vacations right now, could it ?

High-end medical option prompts Medicare worries
Concierge medicine fills a niche, but its spread could worsen shortage of frontline doctors

From the link :

The spread of "concierge medicine," where doctors limit their practice to patients who pay a fee of about $1,500 a year, could drive a wedge among the insured. Eventually, people unable to afford the retainer might find themselves stuck on a lower tier, facing less time with doctors and longer waits.

Medicare recipients, who account for a big share of patients in doctors' offices, are the most vulnerable. The program's financial troubles are causing doctors to reassess their participation. But the impact could be broader because primary care doctors are in short supply and the health law will bring in more than 30 million newly insured patients."

But JR's fulfilled "prophecy" counts for nothing? When was the last time the vacancy sign wasn't hanging on your attic door?

JR, -- Kudos to you. I, too, saw this kind of thing happening down the road. I knew that the Nanny Entitlement State would eventually drive doctors away from entitlement programs because doctors cannot make enough money taking care of government wards. For this reason, I never signed up for Medicare, nor do I ever intend to. I recall the good ol'd days when I went to see doctors -- when I walked into their office with cash in pocket! And today, cash still talks loudly -- well...in most places, Kalifornia an exception, as I recall. :D

Here in Greenwich/Stamford Ct area the Concierge fee is $5,000.00 a year and a growing number of docs here are switching to this.

At least the changes made by Trump have kept it from being driven off shore. Lots more to come
