Risen Star Stakes .. Past Performances

They got em' out early!

Go to Pletcher and scroll . . .
http://horseracing.about.com/od/racedayinfo/a/aafree-pps.htm

Fine job by the folks at the Fair Grounds and nice card. I think they're doin' a great job with their card on these Derby Prep days, don't think anyone has done it better thus far this year and this day appears to be no exception with the following races:

Gentilly S. 60k
Fair Grounds H. G3
Rachel Alexandra S. G3
Mineshaft H. G3
Colonel Power S. 75k
Risen Star S. G2

Now that my friends is some hoss' racin!

Nothin like the Derby Trail. Lookin' forward to the Risen Star and beatin' the Pletcher horse!

Just went back and watched El Padrino's last win on Youtube, doubt he could have been more impressive. If he wins this like he should, he's going to move into most peoples top3 for the derby. May be the last chance to get better than even money on him prior to that.

Against this mediocre bunch, I will very surprised if he goes off higher than even money.:)

Not a walkover by any means, everybody will be watching to see if he's the real thing.

Sure, with three year olds especially you can get big improvement from one race to the next, but my post was about the odds as well. People look at the horses connections and see Pletcher and Castellano, they look at the Beyer fig(100 vs. 82) and see that he towers over the other horses, maybe they look at the pace scenario and wonder who is going to run with him early and apply some pressure. I don't think it will be a horse who couldn't last a route of ground in a mcl25000 at Hawthorne where he was on the lead at six furlongs in 116 4/5. Anything can happen in a race and who knows, he might get beat, but cosidering everything my thought is his off odds are even money or less. What's your prediction?

I think he'll be less than even money. But I don't think El Padrino will be setting the pace. He won't be far off of it, but Hero of Order and Mark Valeski figure to be vying for the lead.

His PP's says off-track specialist. Will he back up his 100 beyer?

I'll predict a victory at .70 odds by 2 1/2 lengths over Mr. Bowling while earning a 96 beyer.

However, I'll be rooting for Mr. Bowling to run him down.

Agree with both of your statements. No reason for Castellano to worry about them getting away from him, but if he thinks it is way too slow, all he has to do is let up on the reins a little and say goodbye.

I believe your prediction for the race to be right on the money.

I hope they do force the issue.

Enough pace to run at, and suddenly 900-pound Oklahoma-bred Ted's Folly rates an upset chance.

Wouldnt touch El Padrino with a ten foot pole.1st race back of the layoff huge beyer on the off track(sire Pulpit).Beat a overrated Take Charge Indy had the dream trip. This field weak...If he wins he will get sucker money in pool 2.I will pass on his stock not only for this race but for the next 2 months.

cj 02-23-2012 01:25 PM

I think we have our Derby winner, possibly the Triple Crown, after that post.

They have a much better chance, though now it might be a nice double bet.
