No shit! I don’t think I’ve ever cheered for the failure of a horse, but man is this a bitch.......

Tom 06-07-2018 11:04 AM

Maybe the excitement of winning a TC will be the end of him!

It's the not horse's fault who owns him. So...feel free to cheer him on for the the win. Besides, doesn't he remind you a lot of Big Red? Big, Strappy, Classy and Domineering? :coffee:

sellout ???

is it a reflection of the connections of the horse or the poor performance in terms of crowd management at past triple crown attempts that the event is still not sold out at this late date ?

just seems as this years triple crown has not caught the eyes and ears of the general public.

Tickets cost $175 or thereabouts for the cheap seats...I think that plays a pretty big part.

I remember when I used to buy 10 seats on Belmont Stakes day for less than A THIRD of what one seat costs today.

Tracks are their own worst enemies. It's no wonder the Sport of Kings is on life support.

Also if" Pharoah" hadn't done it so recently, there would be more interest.

I don't care at all that he or whoever he's associated with owns a piece. My main interest was that the New York Times did the article. Surprised me.

To the Greek's credit, he must pay his top employees well if they can afford to buy TB race horses. :coffee:

Is that what the track charges or the price in the secondary markets because a Triple Crown is on the line?

classhandicapper 06-07-2018 03:16 PM

I'm not going to root against a horse because I don't like one of its partial owners, but this goes beyond a personality conflict. IMO, Soros is a legitimately bad human being that has done and continues to do bad things around the globe for personal and political gain. He's a sociopath. Learning that he has a piece of the horses has caused me internal conflict. I wouldn't be shocked if his ownership was kept quiet because the rest of the team knew it would generate negative feelings.

Tom 06-07-2018 03:35 PM

Sounds like Soros might be the only one who can afford to take his family to the
Belmont!

$175 for a seat? :faint:

If you mean George "Soros", he's not Greek but a self loathing Hungarian Jew, born George Schwartz.

He also owned by breeding syndicates, California chrome was a rags to riches story and had a following.

Can’t see anybody following justify with that much enthusiasm.

How true.

Economy going great, unemployment down, Black unemployment at record lows, tax cust increasing state budgets and people getting raises and bonuses.
Potential for breakthrough in N Korea.......proof that the cems offered nothing.

Give that man a cigar - and a shot, and another shot, and a donut, and make him run....fast. Let's make some more great things happen.....

Exactly! "Played" is an appropriate term. Even though he has never steamrolled over any field in the TC races per se, he was always in full control in those races. He ran just fast enough to get the job done. And he's not even a need-the-lead type, as evidenced by the KY Derby.

Another thing that has impressed me about him is how easily he won the Preakness and the Belmont. Notwithstanding the beaten lengths in those races, he seemed to run effortlessly in the stretch run in those races.

And he's also a very handsome animal. Kinda like me. :D
