Sam Houston late pick 5 - meet ending night

After not getting paid 4 consolation tickets for 4/5 at Sam Houston on Saturday April 3, I sent an email to head of mutuels to inquire. I was sent a link to the Texas gaming commission rules which actually proved my case. I followed up with the tgc and they agreed with me that a mistake was made. Several days later Sam Houston issued a statement and credited my account (although I thought the payout seemed very light).

Who should be held accountable when obvious parimutuel mistakes are made? Although I’m happy to eventually collect my rightful winnings, I’m sure the majority of players that had physical tickets in that sequence would have already destroyed them once they were initially graded as losers... After doing a little research, this also wasn’t the first time this mistake has occurred.

Sharp job noticing this error. I don't know who is responsible for situations like this & how much double checking goes on to prevent them from happening, but it seems pretty inexcusable. Certainly not the first payout error out there.

There was an incident with NYRA like 2 years back where the will-pays came up & they seemed mathematically impossible, I tried to get the parimutuel dept on the phone before the race went off & tweeted at NYRA & others as well but was unable to bring attention & there didn't seem to be any follow up. I still believe NYRA paid out a fair amount more than they should've, but if they're not interested in saving $ so be it.

It's unfortunate when the public needs to help do the job for the entities here, but it doesn't hurt to have a keen eye at noticing an error & hoping the tracks do right by the customers.
