I am simply saying that it is logical that a pencil and paper method uses some form of traditional past performances, with all data manipulation being done with -- everyone ready for this? -- a pencil and paper. |

Sweet nostalgia for me. Names like Numbered Account, Silent Screen and Shuvee headlining Morning Telegraph editions that cost a quarter. It would take years, however, for me to realize what the true price on those forms had been....everything. And it still seems like a bargain.

Twinspires has "free" Bris PP's and Powerplays. We have to do some wagering on those tracks for that day. I also noticed your from Vancouver Island Beautiful place. I spent 7 years at Port Alberni.

Had the same feeling waiting for the late greyhound bus in northern Alberta to bring the next days Drf and thought i had the edge for the weekend at Northlands Park.

I thought I did.
BRIS, DRF, whatever, vanilla. Anything that has a cloth number, horse name and lines for past races. Something that doesn't use a computer for anything but display or printing or no computer at all.
The answers in the graph are totally bogus because a lot of people don't know the difference between a computer and pencil/paper. |

We are on the same page read post #133, 124 ,125.
Some people think the computer selections using dowloaded data is there way of handicapping so be it and some folks use Beyer numbers to handicap keep going.
Many people supplement there handicapping with there choice of data banks???.

I meant no sarcasm in my reply. I hope it didn't come across as such. I have seen races there that made me scratch my head. Turf races there can be really wild. It just has some peculiarities compared to most tracks. Last time I was following it there was a strong bias to the outside posts. Get some huge overlays when it's an off track too. I would tread lightly at first. JMO Good luck. |

My dad bought and put away the first Sunday edition of the DRF like it was gold. We still have it even though he's been gone for some time now. Don't know if it's worth anything but it was to him. I liked the old format with the large pages. There was an art to folding it just right too. Sweet nostalgia indeed. |

None taken. It's all good.
The above excludes turf races, I still don't do very well with them.
I have come to believe there is not a track out there (other than the fairs) that can not be handicapped successfully.
My head is getting way to big with that statement, so I am sure a fall is coming my way. I hope I survive it. Maybe it will be at MNR :)

Oddly enough I like playing there. It took me a while to get a feel for the place though. I like playing the cheap races. 5-10k claimers. I seam to do better with open claimers or non winners of X races lifetime. I don't do well with races where conditions are non winners of X races in a year or from a certain date. I don't know why, but I don't so I stay away from them. I would be perfectly happy just playing tracks like Will Rogers Downs, Delta Downs and yes, Mountaineer. |
